Sofa Cleaning

Sofa and suite cleaning in Penicuik, Midlothian and South Edinburgh — ideal before guests, after pets, or ahead of a tenancy check.

Cushions, arms and backs are dry-vacuumed, pre-sprayed, worked with a soft hand brush and extraction-rinsed with the Puzzi upholstery tool so seams and piping get care without overwetting foam.

Professional cleaning — Sofa Cleaning

Why we clean this way

Sofas hold years of dust, crumbs and oils in the fibres and under cushions. A fabric freshener spray cannot extract what is already inside. We remove dry soil with the CV 30/1, break down grime with the correct Prochem pre-spray, work it free with a soft hand brush only, then rinse and extract with the Puzzi — optional finish add-ons (deodouriser, stain conservation, allergen elimination) only if you want them.

How your clean works

Dry vacuum, Prochem pre-spray, agitation matched to carpet pile or fabric, then hot water extraction with the Puzzi. Optional finish add-ons on request — deodouriser, stain conservation and allergen elimination.

  1. Dry vacuum — Kärcher CV 30/1

We vacuum the sofa (cushions, creases and arms) first to remove dry soil, hair, grit and dust before any moisture is used.

Why: Loose dirt removed upfront lets pre-spray work on the fibres and keeps extraction water cleaner.

  2. Fabric check & test spot

We confirm fabric type, wear and any previous DIY attempts. A hidden test spot is done when the composition is uncertain.

Why: Helps avoid dye bleed, shrinkage or texture change on mixed-fibre suites.

  3. Prochem pre-spray (matched to fibre and soiling)

A Prochem pre-spray suited to upholstery grade and how heavily the suite is used is applied evenly and given dwell time to break down oils and sticky soils.

Why: Correct chemistry matters — the wrong product can leave residue, odour or damage on wool, synthetics or delicate weaves.

  4. Gentle agitation — soft hand brush only

We work the pre-spray in with a soft hand brush on cushions, arms and backs — never a carpet-pile machine or Sebo DUO on fabric.

Why: Sofa and upholstery fibres need lighter agitation than fitted carpet pile. A soft hand brush is enough to free soil without damaging weave or seams.

  5. Rinse & extraction — Kärcher Puzzi 10/2 (upholstery tool)

An upholstery-appropriate Prochem rinse is applied and extracted with the Puzzi using the upholstery tool — lower moisture than a full carpet pass, with care on seams and piping.

Why: Controlled extraction on fabric reduces overwetting of foam and backing while still removing soil and chemistry from the fibres.

  6. Optional finish add-ons (on request)

After extraction, when fibres are clean and moisture-controlled, we can quote optional Prochem treatments. Nothing is applied unless you ask — we confirm each add-on before we use it.

Why: Finish treatments work best on a properly rinsed surface. Upsells are always optional and priced before application.

    • DeodouriserFresh finish after the clean, including a cherry fragrance option — ideal when you want a noticeable scent once drying is underway.
    • Stain conservationFibre protection to help guard against future spills and everyday soiling, so professional results last longer between visits.
    • Allergen eliminationTreatment focused on reducing allergens such as dust mites and pollen residues — popular in asthma-sensitive homes and pet households.
